THE MDL MAJOR // DISNEYLAND

For the last 10 days I’ve been in Disneyland Paris shooting with Team Liquids DOTA2 team competing in the MDL Major for a share of a $1million prize pot and a chance to qualify for TI9 (The International 2019) event in Shanghai later this year with a prize pool of over $25+Million.

The group stages of this event were played inside Disneys Newport Bay hotel before heading into the Disney Arena situated inside the Disney Village and open to the public. Although Team Liquid were forced into the lower bracket by Evil Geniuses in the group stages, they managed to battle their way all the way to the grand finals with some of the best DOTA games i’ve ever watched, sadly it wasn’t enough for the top spot but 2nd place and qualifying for TI9 was still a great result.

Anyway, 10 days in Disneyland is definitely enough for me - I never want to see another Micky Mouse ever again, or at least for a while anyway. Heading home to take some time off before meeting up with these guys again at ESL Birmingham to do it all over again!

Here are some shots from the event.

EGL GEARS OPEN, SHEFFIELD

Last weekend I was invited up to Sheffield to shoot the Gears of War Open hosted by the good people at European Gaming League. Gears of War events hold a certain kind of uniqueness about them no matter how big or small the event and you can absolutely guarantee a pretty charged atmosphere among the players and teams which always makes for a great viewing (and photo taking) experience.

Also just to add I'm running for esports photographer of the year this year and would highly appreciate your nominations, should anyone be reading this. You can vote here (www.esportsawards.com/nominate) with www.richlock.com/esports being my URL.

Here are a few of my favourite shots from the event.
